This is a faithful vintage copy of the Dallas Rangemaster from the mid 60s.

Built in the UK with vintage components point to point wired by John nearly every part dates back to the 1960s. This is basically like opening the box on one built in 1966.

  • Mullard OC44 transistor circa 1967-69

  • Erie resistors 1960s

  • Mullard mustard input and output capacitors 1966-67

  • Phillips electrolytic caps 1960s

  • CTS potentiometer
  • Nutrick  jacks

The circuit itself is a faithful replica of the original circuit built by Dallas.

Our goal in this build was to replicate the sound of Tony Iommi’s original device famously modified in the late 60s. We achieved this working with Tony’s old guitar tech and years of trial and error.

The end result was a setting which even by Tony’s own admission is a very close copy.

We decided to provide some simple tone shaping by way of input switching, giving the ability to use the original standard Rangemaster setting, through to a slightly more mid heavy Boost or the lower position providing the sound of the modified Iommi unit, which although technically still called a treble boost this turned it into an almost full range boost effect.

Compatible with a 9V power supply or 9v battery.
